"You... don't... want me?" "No."
Edward Cullen left Isabella Swan in the woods that day, him devoid of any emotion and her left in a catatonic state. With him gone, everything in her life was over. No reason, no light, no love. For months she walked around like a zombie doing the bare minimal to survive. With Charlie's threat to send her away, Bella decides to try and start living again. While out with Jessica she realizes that if she puts herself in danger she can hear Edward's voice. In desperation, she brings motorcycles to Jacob Black. What she gets back from the Quileute boy is so much more.
Jacob and Isabella become best friends and suddenly life has meaning again. As time rolls on though she realizes that there is more then just friendship between them. One of her danger seeking stunts brings her to the cliffs of La Push... but she doesn't jump. Bella waits, Jake arrives and brings her back home. There is no vision of her jumping, and so Alice never comes back. Edward doesn't think Bella is dead, and so he never goes to Volterra. And there is no call from Edward to halt the now inevitable kiss.
'Keeping his eyes on mine, Jacob began to bend his face toward me. And I leaned forward to meet him.'
Jacob was all Bella would need now, she couldn't fathom living without him. All hopes of Edward gone, the werewolf and human got together. Things were looking up again it seemed. They were as happy as they could get. Bella didn't expect anything more.
Meanwhile, the Cullen family was doing far from their best. Edward had given us with his tracking and returned to his family just as they had run into a pack of creatures thought to be just myth. But was anything ever just myth with them? The Cullens were confronted with a pack of real werewolves, people governed by the cycles of the moon. And unlike the shapeshifters back in Forks, these werewolves were vicious. They tore humans apart limb from limb and savagely ate what they could get. When they transformed, their minds weren't their own. But that didn't matter; they were proud to be what they were.
Unaware of just how murderous the werewolves were, the two groups talked with one another. The pack was very curious and had no intention of fighting the vampires. Edward ran off hunting, not desiring to be engaged in conversations of any kind, especially with werewolves. Unknowing of what he would cause, Emmett spoke of Forks and Bella. He of course would be the one to make a joke of the situation. The werewolves all knew what to do after hearing about this particularly appetizing girl, and Edward arrived just in time to hear their plans. The werewolves were headed to Washington and were going to terrorize the Cullen's former hometown, starting with the Swan girl.
The Cullens have to go back, no question, in order to right the disaster they unleashed upon Forks. But how will Edward take it when he finds Bella has apparently moved on? What will Bella do when she finds Edward has returned? What role will the shapeshifters play? Where's Victoria? And most importantly, will the Cullens be able to save the town of Forks?
