The atmosphere was probably what Viola loved about Forks the most. It was so serene and quiet. Especially where she lived. Viola smiled softly as she finished getting dressed for the day. Although she wasn't really planning to go anywhere, she wouldn't stay in the clothes she had worn yesterday. The smile continued to stay on her face as she remembered the memories when she was a human. Well what was left of them. It made her laugh now, to think about how tired she used to get and how precious sleep was to her.
Viola headed down the wooden spiral staircase from her upstairs to the bottom level. As her fingertips slid against the wood, she looked down at the lower level. This house was exactly what she needed; comforting and artistic. As she stretched her pale arms, she walked down the hallway to her favorite room in the house. If anyone visited her, they would know why this one room was ranked higher than the others.
Taking in a deep breath, Viola smiled as she slid the door open. Inside contained her most treasured room. The only truly special about this room was almost of all the exterior walls were replaced with large windows. This was how she liked it. There was an easel with a canvas on it along with a stereo in the corner. Viola came here to relax and to paint. One gift that she kept from when she was human, was her artistic ability. As she strolled over to the stereo in the corner, she was glad that she didn't have school today.
Viola turned on a cd of her favorite songs and smiled to herself as the first one began to play. She gracefully walked over to the window and cracked it open slightly, letting the wonderful scent of the forest into the house. As she closed her eyes, the aroma of the trees and the rain flooded her senses. A slight smile found its way onto her face as she went over to her easel. Before she became occupied with painting, she went over to her cabinet and pulled out the supplies she needed to paint.
After becoming all set up for her painting to continue, Viola looked outside her window. She was very pleased. Her painting looked exactly like the world outside her window. The small creek that babbled outside, the tall trees and the wildflowers were all becoming portrayed on this piece of canvas. As Viola sat down, she dabbed her paintbrush into the puddle of grayish-blue and began to paint the stream. There was just something about painting that relaxed her. No matter how frustrated or angry she was, it calmed her.
Viola continued to paint in silence, only the music and the occasional bird chirping were heard while she was painting. As she continued to paint with a delicate and cautious hand, her senses were flooded with the scent of an approaching storm. She looked and noticed that the visible clouds that were farthest away were darker than the grey clouds that hung around the perimeter. As she continued to paint, she hoped she would be able to continue to paint before the rain became too bad.
The painting was coming along beautifully. All of the creek had been finished and the stones surrounding it were shaping up nicely as well. Viola mixed a few colors before she got the right shade and began to paint again. This was one of her favorite things to do, besides the relaxation did her good too. Recently most of her time had been consumed with school work and such. It was very nice for her to unwind from it. Usually she'd miss at least a day of school per week, thanks to the constant sunlight on some days but this month had been different. The clouds hung low and blocked the sun. Which more time spent at school.
Viola was extremely happy to be at least attending school though. All though her human life was fuzzy now, she could still clearly remember that she hadn't had the opportunity to be schooled in the same manner that she was schooled in today. She had been through many schools, small and large alike but Forks was the first place since France that truly felt like home to her. Here she didn't have to hide out for the majority of the days of the year. She also had some vampires like herself that kept her company. At least before they left. How much better could her life get? Besides finding that comet to light up her night sky, of course.

When she thought about it, there were two other vampires in Forks. It just so happened those two she talked to. And of those two, she was especially close with one, a certain Viola Lacrouix. So that's where she was headed now. Another day, a few hours lying in bed, and she had decided to pay a visit to her friend in light of the recent arrivals in their small town. She didn't plan on dumping her problems on Viola as she had done with Quil. She hated placing her burdens upon anyone, and she still felt a bit bad for having done so with her other friend. Now it seemed Quil was thinking, not as much as her but still, and he knew he had to tell Jake if she didn't. She was planning on it, but now she felt like she was on some sort of time limit. --If she didn't tell Jacob in a certain amount of days he would find out another way, from his best friend. More pressure to be added onto her, perfect.
Viola wouldn't push her like that, but she wasn't looking for that kind of help or aid or sympathy. It was nice to know thought that she wouldn't get any more interference in the situation. Bella already had it hard enough. She just needed to know. Did Viola know? She wanted to know if the Cullens had told anyone of their return. If they hadn't, had they gone to visit their fellow vampire friends once returning? Had they told Viola or Jason anything... about her maybe? She had plenty of questions and as she lie in her bed staring up at the ceiling new ones just kept coming and coming.
With all these questions, she needed answers. Bella wasn't about to stop Jason, Mr. Levito after class and bombard him with all these questions... not yet anyway. Viola is who she would go to first, and she wouldn't ask about it in class. No, she would wait until the weekend and she would visit her friend at her house. That's exactly what she was doing now. Jumping in her red truck she pushed fifty all the way to her friend's house which always seemed to remind her of the Cullen's home. Just the way it was hidden in the woods and all, and how nice and neat it looked. Was that common for vampires? --That their houses always looked much better than your own.
Bella pulled up the gravel path, not so much a path as a string of grass and dirt pushed down by tires, and dragged herself out of the car. Viola already knew she was here, with a vampire's keen sense of hearing she would have heard the old truck several miles away. She was expecting that long blonde hair to sweep into the doorway at any moment anticipating her arrival. The ground crunched beneath her feet as she trudged along up to the doorway. Why hadn't she come to the door yet? She stood in front of it a good minute or so, giving her time. Shockingly enough Viola hadn't showed up yet. Doing something she never had to when coming to her house, she knocked and waited some more. "Viola?" she called out weakly, backing up and raising her eyes.
Maybe she was busy? She had to be home at least, Bella was certain of that. She stood awkwardly, fixing her headband as to give her something to do. She wasn't used to waiting for vampires, most of the time it was the other way around. That's just it, she was probably busy. What if she couldn't answer the door? What if the Cullens were visiting like she had thought they might have before. In thinking such a thing, she panicked. If they were here hanging out with Viola, she didn't... couldn't be here. Lowering her head and shaking it, she shifted weight before turning and walking down the steps. Her confrontation with Edward in the meadow had done something to her. For some reason Bella couldn't even think straight now. With a slight frown she stopped on the driver's side, lightly touching the handle.

Viola was about half-way done with her painting when she smelled a familiar scent in the air. Of course she knew this scent by heart, it was Bella Swan. She had befriended her while they were both pretty new to the town and had become pretty close ever since. As she stopped the sweeping motion across the canvas, she decided to get ready for Bella's arrival now. Just so she wouldn't be late to be at the door. Viola quickly ran around the room in a flourish of colors as she put her supplies away. A soft, musical chuckle escaped her lips as she heard Bella's noisy truck pull into the driveway.
Viola had finished right as Bella pulled into her driveway. As she made her way quickly down the stairs, she pulled her blonde hair back into a ponytail. While she was coming down the stairs, she heard Bella knock. She quickly came to the door and opened it, a grin on her face, she noticed that Bella was walking to her truck. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she walked out her door and onto the porch. Taking in a deep breath of the misty air, she wondered why Bella was getting ready to leave. Probably because she wasn't at the door, so she thought she wasn't home.
"Bella?" Viola called, her voice ringing amongst the trees. Taking a small strand of her pale blonde hair, she swept it behind her ear. Today was actually a better day than she expected. It was perfect weather, for a vampire and one of her friends stopped by. Even if Bella came to let out her emotions, she'd be okay with that. Some vampires had certain abilities, and Viola was one of them. She was an expert at soothing and calming people. It came in handy if someone was upset or angry. Ever since the Cullens left, Viola had been doing all that she could to help Bella to feel better.
All though Viola had been friends with Jasper and knew the Cullens, that didn't make her exactly content with them leaving. She was actually angry, to an extent about their departure. If she hadn't met Bella, that'd probably be different. She didn't mind that they left, but it was the state of how Bella got left in was in that set her off. How could Edward ever do anything like that to the poor girl? She understood it was supposed to be better for the both of them, but it really wasn't. Now here she was, hanging onto herself with her fingernails. It pained Viola to watch her to put the broken and fragile pieces of herself back together. That's why she's glad she moved to Forks. Now she could help her through this rough time.
Viola actually felt her jaw tighten and teeth grind as she thought about this. As soon as she realized she was doing this she calmed down. No use getting angry over something that was out of her hands. Of course she felt angry towards Edward, just because of what Bella had become. She did understand that he was trying to make her life better. Now she was here, almost zombified. She needed him. Of course at the time Edward wouldn't realize how bad it'd be, but still. The memories flooded back as she remembered all the days when Bella was in a zombie-like state. She was just beginning to get better now. As she fixed her sweater, her eyes floated back to Bella. "Ready to go inside now?" she asked.
Viola waited calmly for Bella to respond. She had all day, so she was in no hurry. That was one thing she realized when she first got turned into a vampire. When you lived forever, you never needed to hurry any more. There was no reason for it. You'd never run out of time, so why worry yourself over silly little issues? That was Viola's perspective on it atleast. It made her chuckle, watching humans rush around to all of the places they had to go. She understood that they had limited days, but still it was humorous when you could live forever. At first when she got turned, she couldn't really wrap her mind around living forever. Well now here she was 156 years later. All of the people from her childhood and life while she was human were now dead. She learned that if you thought about the memories from while you were human, you'd be more likely to remember them later. Although her human life was fuzzy in her memory, she could still remember the major events in her human life.
